Part Time Janitorial Staff
Location: County of Lancaster, Virginia Government
Hourly Wage: $16.53/hour
Weekly Hours: 25 hours/week
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Position Summary
The County of Lancaster and its Public Works Department is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a part-time janitorial staff member. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and overall presentation of several high-traffic county facilities, including:
- The Judicial Center (including courtrooms)
- The Voter Registration Office
- The County Administration Building and its office’s (including the Board Meeting Room)
The successful candidate will report directly to the Director of Public Works and will be expected to uphold high standards of cleanliness and professionalism in all assigned areas.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The janitorial staff member will be responsible for a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks, on a rotating basis including but not limited to:
- Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors in all designated areas
- Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, break rooms, and common areas
- Emptying trash and recycling receptacles and replacing liners
- Dusting surfaces, furniture, and fixtures
- Maintaining the appearance of entryways, hallways, and public spaces
- Cleaning and preparing courtrooms and the Board Meeting Room to ensure they remain presentable for official proceedings
- Monitoring and replenishing cleaning supplies and restroom products
- Reporting any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the Director of Public Works
- Performing any other duties as assigned to support facility operations
Qualifications and Requirements
- Previous janitorial or custodial experience is a plus
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
- Physical ability to lift and carry cleaning supplies and equipment (up to 25 lbs)
- Must be able to stand, bend, and move for extended periods
- Reliable transportation and punctuality are essential

Monday through Friday
9:00 AM to 2:00 PM
5 hours per day / 25 hours per week
Supervision
Reports directly to the Director of Public Works
