Public Access to County Offices to Resume Monday, June 8, 2020
With Governor Northam placing most of Virginia into Phase 2 of the state’s COVID-19 re-opening plan, public access to Lancaster County offices and buildings will resume at 9 AM on Monday, June 8, 2020. Affected offices include County Administration, Building Official, Planning and Zoning, Registrar, Social Services, Emergency Services, Sheriff, Treasurer and Commissioner of the Revenue. The Courts will issue their own notices for re-opening.
Phase 2 bans public and private gatherings of 50 or more people and this limit on the number of people inside buildings will be monitored and enforced. We encourage citizens to continue to conduct business online, via telephone, e-mail or mail, when possible. If citizens must come to County offices, advance appointments are encouraged to maintain acceptable numbers of people inside the buildings. Citizens will be required to wear a face covering inside county buildings as mandated by the Governor’s Executive Order 63 and social distancing must be maintained.
