Lancaster County residents may make application for a concealed handgun permit at the Circuit Court Clerk's Office, Lancaster Courthouse in Lancaster. Applications should be obtained from Court Clerk, Diane H. Mumford or her deputies. The application can also be downloaded from this site. Concealed handgun permit applicants must tender a nonrefundable fee of $26.00 with original application along with proof of firearms safety training or proof of military or law enforcement experience. The renewal application fee is $26.00. Lancaster County applications take 3 to 4 weeks to process.
APPROVED PERMITS: Approved persons with original applications shall receive a telephone call from Diane H. Mumford, Circuit Court Clerk to appear before the Judge of the Circuit Court to be granted the permit. If granted by the Circuit Court Judge, the Circuit Court Clerk issues a card signed by the applicant and the Clerk.
The Lancaster County concealed handgun permit is valid for 5 years from the date of issuance. It may be revoked if convicted of certain crimes. Renewal is a similar process as described above.
